Would you believe me if I told you that you can control your thoughts?

Most of my patients present with anxiety related symptoms which stem from racing and uncontrollable thoughts. Our thoughts are directly connected to our emotions and feelings, which in turn, influence the way we perceive ourselves and others.

We get hijacked by our thoughts. We are so busy worrying about the past or planning for the future that we are very rarely in the present moment. However, we must be in the present moment to become mindful. When we are mindful, we can control our thoughts. When we control our thoughts, we begin to live in the here and now. When we live in the here and now, our thoughts and actions become deliberate and we feel in control of your lives.

This all sounds easy but it is very hard to do. Some people use meditation and other grounding techniques to help them stay present while others need more help. Finding the time and energy to take care of our emotional health can be maddening but Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help you gain control over your thoughts which can help you stay present and emotionally balanced.
